Cromar Aluminium Solar Reflective Paint provides a durable, solar-reflective finish for bituminous roofs, roofing felt, exposed steel and corrugated iron. Its bright silver aluminium finish reflects solar radiation and helps protect roofing surfaces against UV exposure and weathering.
The coating works particularly well on bituminous roofing systems, where prolonged sunlight and heat can accelerate ageing and deterioration. The reflective aluminium finish helps reduce solar exposure and supports the long-term protection of the roof surface.
Cromar Aluminium Paint suits both roof maintenance and refurbishment projects. Apply it by brush or airless spray to create an even, reflective finish.

What Is Cromar Aluminium Solar Reflective Paint Used For?
Use Cromar Aluminium Solar Reflective Paint to protect and refresh roofs and other suitable exterior surfaces.
The bright aluminium finish reflects solar radiation and helps shield the surface underneath from direct sunlight and UV exposure. This makes it particularly useful for bituminous roofing systems, where regular exposure to sunlight can contribute to ageing and deterioration.
Suitable applications include:
- Bituminous flat roofs
- Roofing felt
- Existing bitumen roof coatings
- Exposed steel roofs
- Corrugated iron roofs
- Aged roofing surfaces
- Suitable mineral surfaces such as concrete
How Much Area Does 5 Litres Cover?
Cromar Aluminium Solar Reflective Paint covers approximately 5–10m² per litre, depending on the texture, condition and porosity of the surface.
A 5 litre tin can therefore cover approximately 25–50m² per coat under suitable conditions.
Rough, porous or heavily weathered surfaces may use more product, so always consider the condition of the roof when calculating how much paint you need.
Surface Preparation
Prepare the surface carefully before application to achieve the best adhesion and finish.
Make sure the roof or substrate feels clean and dry. Remove dirt, dust, grease, oil and any loose material before you start.
Remove moss, algae, lichen and other organic growth. Treat affected areas with a suitable fungicidal treatment where necessary.
Prime roofing felt appropriately before applying the aluminium coating.
Allow freshly applied bituminous coatings to cure and weather for approximately 3–5 days before applying Cromar Aluminium Solar Reflective Paint.
How to Apply Cromar Aluminium Solar Reflective Paint
- Clean and prepare the surface thoroughly.
- Make sure the surface has fully dried before application.
- Stir the paint thoroughly to distribute the aluminium pigment evenly.
- Apply a thin, even first coat with a suitable brush or airless spray.
- Allow the first coat to dry.
- Apply a second thin, even coat to achieve complete coverage and protection.
