Uses
The Intucrylic Sealant by Bostik delivers excellent sealing properties and fire resistance. Its intumescent compound allows it to resist high levels of fire, and it causes the sealant to swell into an insulating char, preventing the slow passage of flames and smoke. This product can be used for various applications, some of which include;
- Seal gaps between fire-rated building components and structures, such as window and door frames
- Service penetration seal system for both cables and pipe
- Sealing expansion, contraction and construction joints where compartmentation and movement are factors.
Preparation
Prepare the surface by ensuring that contaminants that can hinder the adhesion of this product are removed; some of these are dust, dirt, oil and grease. On non-porous substrates, it must be degreased with a suitable cleaner and movement joints should be supported with a backing strip.
Application
- Cut the top of the cartridge, ensuring not to damage the threaded screw.
- Screw the nozzle onto the cartridge, cutting it at a 45° angle with an opening slightly larger than the gap to be filled.
- Apply using a standard sealant gun, applying gentle pressure to the gun to extrude the sealant, ensuring a consistent bead along the application area.
- Tool down within 3-5 minutes of the application; use an applicator tool or wooden spoon/spatula with a soapy solution.
