Preparation
Prepare the surfaces by removing any contaminants that can hinder this product; this includes loose debris, dirt, dust, grease, oil and similar impurities.
Primer
Suppose your intended surface for this product is fairly porous, such as old concrete, plaster, plasterboard etc. You should dilute this product with 4 parts water to seal the surface.
Application
501 PVA is suitable for bonding plaster, and cement renders/repairs compounds. To correctly bond plaster, the product should be undiluted and brushed directly onto the surface you intend to plaster. Once it's applied, you should apply the plaster before the PVA emulsion dries. This process will create a substantial bonding strength that will meet the requirements outline in BS5270.
Small areas:
To cover small areas, use the 501 PVA with an equal amount of water mixed with it and add this to the mortar or concrete mix. This will improve the cured concrete's adhesion and flexural strength, similar to conventional PVA bonding agents.
Larger areas:
Dilute this product with 3 parts 501 PVA to 1 part water and brush directly onto the surface you intend to coat or repair. Afterwards, apply a standard concrete mix before the emulsion dries.
Woodworking:
Use this product neat to bond wood applications together. It has been tested in a laboratory and shown strength similar to conventional PVA bonding agents.
