Uses
MultiSeal Self-Adhesive Bituminous Sealing Tape by Sika is excellent for repairing, protecting and sealing various external building improvement applications. It has a multitude of applications, some of which include;
- Roofing, including sheet metal work
- Facades
- Broken roof tiles
- Leaking roof gutters
- Chimneys and roof lights
- Caravans and trailers
- Officer containers
- Various types of ductwork
Preparation
Ensure you prepare the surface before commencing the application. Complete this by removing contaminants such as; dirt, oil, grease, cement laitance, oil sealants and poorly bonded paint coatings. Check and ensure the surface is structurally sound for the stresses in the tape during movement.Â
Applications
Cut the tape to the required length, remove the release film and press firmly onto the substrate. Use a hard-wheeled roller or similar tool to help push the surfaces together. Heat the MultiSeal Tape or the substrate it's applied onto before increasing the adhesion time. Overlaps must be ≥ 50mm.
Limitations
- The upper side of the tape is suitable for paints to be applied over, except.
- This product is not suitable for natural stone.
- Due to the bituminous content of the tape, coating, plastics and natural stone may discolour.
- Please note if optimal adhesion isn't achieved, water may infiltrate underneath the tape and weaken the adhesion
- This product is unsuitable for overhead applications when temperatures are > +25 °C.
- This product is not suitable for application in areas under constant water immersion.
