Coated Screws
When using screws in exterior settings they can be exposed to rainwater and cold weather. In order to prevent rust, specially coated screws can be employed. These are made of galvanised steel.
Galvanised steel is steel that has been treated with zinc to form a coating over it. This combines the strength of steel with the water-resistance of zinc. The result is fixings and screws that can be used in exterior settings with little to no worries.
In addition, some SPAX® screws are offered with WIROX coating, which is exceptionally water resistant. In addition, WIROX is free from chromium VI, making it environmentally friendly. However, WIROX screws should not be used with oak as it will stain.
ERoofing has a good range of different coated screws, including WIROX coated ones.
