Uses

Evo-Stik Glazing Silicone Sealant by Bostik is a high-modulus sealant perfect for all glazing applications. Bostik Manufacturing crafted this unique product with outstanding adhesion to non-porous surfaces. Applications that this product works for include; cap beading, butt glazing, shop fronts and curtain wall glazing. This product is fantastic for many general industrial uses, especially with the forming in situ gaskets and draught-proofing.

Preparation

Ensure you are applying this product in a warm, well-ventilated area. The surface must be cleaned, sound, dry and free from dust and similar contaminants that can hinder the adhesion.

Application

  1. Cut the top of the cartridge, where the dome protrudes, but ensure you don't damage the threaded screw.
  2. Screw the nozzle onto the cartridge, cutting it at a 45° angle with an opening slightly larger than the gap to be filled.
  3. Using a standard applicator gun, gently squeeze the trigger, ensuring a consistent bead along the application area connected to both surfaces.
  4. Smooth down the sealant within 20 minutes using an applicator tool or wetted wooden spatula/spoon.

Limitations

  • This product won't adhere to surfaces with frost or ice on them
  • This product is unsuitable for application on zinc, lead or cement-based surfaces.
  • Not suitable for applications such as swimming pools or aquariums.
  • Applying this product to an area submerged in water is not advised as it can interfere with the adhesion.
  • This product isn't suitable on or against bitumen
  • Not suitable for bedding double glazed/insulating glass unit into frames
  • This product will not accept paint.
