Frequently Asked Questions (3)
Generally, we recommend applying Bitumen Primer with a 4-inch or 3-inch brush ensuring an even coat with no pooling. In some circumstances, it may be applied with an airless spray.
Bitumen primer is used to prepare surfaces, especially porous surfaces, to have other bituminous layers applied over them. This can be bitumen paint for instance or shed felt with bitumen applied on one side.
In addition, some types of bitumen primer are perfect for preparing a surface to receive flashing from non-lead lead alternatives.
Typically, bitumen prime is dark or black in colour.
