Uses
The Jetcem Patching Plaster by Everbuild is a high-quality, effective repairing powder that easily mixes with water to form a lump-free paste. It's formulated with added PVA powder, ensuring optimal adhesion to most common building surfaces; alongside that, it's designed to cure in just 1 hour with painting over entirely compatible. It's a robust, durable repair that's suitable for sanding down if required, as well as accepting and supporting nails or screws drilled into it.
Preparation
Before commencing the application, you must prepare the surface to ensure optimal results are achieved. Start by cleaning and removing any contaminants present, including loose debris, dirt, dust, grease, oil, organic growth, etc. If there are any nail heads exposed, seal them using an oil-based paint and allow it to dry. After you've cleaned and prepared, if the surface is highly porous, slightly dampen it to improve adhesion.
Application
- When mixing this product with water, you must use a clean vessel; otherwise, you risk causing performance issues.
- Mix 2½ parts Jetcem powder to 1 part water by volume and mix immediately until a smooth paste is achieved.
- Note that the mixed plaster is workable for about 30-40 minutes, so only mix what you can use, or you'll cause wastage.
- Using a trowel, scoop and smooth the patching plaster over the surface
- Finish it using a wet knife. If you require sanding to a smooth finish, leave a slight bump on the surface to enable smoothing.
Limitations
- If you're repairing gaps more significant than 4cm, apply the plaster repair in two loads, allowing the first to dry before applying the second.
- This product is suitable for sanding and painting after 1 hour of drying.
- Once the plaster starts to become unworkable, don't add water to it; instead, create a new batch.
- Do not use this product when the temperature is below 10°C
- Do not apply this product over existing sealants, paints or plastics.
